Following up from a post on reddit I saw, I thought I'd throw the idea up to people on here.
Minecraft fortress wars!
Basically bunch of people on the server, two teams. Have like 10 mins / 15 mins setup time, and then play what is essentially capture the flag.
Ideas:
"Flag" is a golden apple or normal apple - Something thats not found in game normally. Apple is in a chest / dispenser somewhere in both teams' bases.
Teams either start off in a skylands map to prevent direct tunneling into the other base, would mean youd have to build some bridges to get to the other peoples base. No tunnelling though.
OR - they start off in a normal map. This at least provides some method of tunnelling rather than running.
Both teams start off in a randomly generated "fort" (basic castle style structure) which has the apple chest in, along with chests full of resources (so basic materials to build with, fences, possibly bows/arrows/swords. things like lava buckets / redstone / pressure plates for traps).
Given 10 or 15 mins or so to build various traps and defences to stop the other team stealing yo apple.
Repeats for three rounds, where you get a few minutes to reset traps / improve / tweak / repair in between. Runs as a "best of three" thing.
When you die, you respawn in your original fort building but without your items.
Chest with apple in would have several so if you have the apple and jump off the side of the map, someone will have to repenetrate the base to get the next apple.
Thoughts?
Have put this in here, rather than in the minecraft group, as theres likely others who have thoughts about CTF style gaming who don't necessarily play minecraft, but who would still contribute ideas
