Take me to alt, or kick me from the guild, I've just got an email telling me my account has had it's email address changed.

If it says "confirmation has been sent to the new email" ignore it.

It won't change (If you even can) without your permission.

Blizzard Entertainment recently received a request to change the e-mail address used to log in to the Battle.net account with the username
*************@hotmail.com. The e-mail address h***@yahoo.com has been specified as the new username for this Battle.net account. An email has been sent to this new address containing a verification link to complete the change.

Once the new address has been verified, the e-mail address ************@hotmail.com can no longer be used to log in to this Battle.net account or any World of Warcraft accounts merged with this Battle.net account.

If you did not initiate this request, please click here to contact the Blizzard Billing & Account Services team immediately.

Obviously hid my email address because I don't want this happening again, however, that's ACTUALLY my newfound friend's email. :/ Either way, I've already sent an account recovery request.

Go check account management. There's a scary number of authentic-looking phishers these days.

Naw, this is legit. The link took me to actual battle.net. I've tried logging in to no avail, etc. :/

I sent my account recovery thing 30 mins ago. Still waiting on an automated email, so completely locked out.

Right, got the two emails I was waiting for, along with, wierdly enough, an "investigation" into the incident, from 'blizzard'. XD Nice try.

As a previous "hackee" I know how much it sucks.
Still.. THIS STICKY!

Get yourself an authenticator key or phone software if you have a smartphone.

Oh, I'm already in the process of ordering an authenticator. Was thinking about it before, to be honest. This has made my mind up.

Okay, worried now. My account is still 'locked'. :/ Any ideas? Or are they just still working on it?

My problems were all sorted in under 6 hours (same day) including getting all my gear / gold back. I was quite impressed.
Maybe send support another email querying the status.

I would, but the security question I need to answer on anything related is 'invalid', which is freaking me out a little, as well as that I don't know my original CD-Key. :/ I don't have any forms of ID, and it'll cost me 50 quid to get one, so I'm quite up the shitter.

I'd just like some email of some description to say "Hey, we're doing this this and this, so bear with us".

It would even be helpful if somebody could just say "Oh, yeah, that's happened to me."

Bleh.

I re-played my account for a 10 day period on a 'scroll of ressurection' from a friend of mine, I can't retrieve my account because the e-mail address I had registered it to is no longer in service, I do have my CD key, but my account was hacked shortly after I stopped that 10 day period and I can't even remember how long ago that was.

I'd have been fine had Blizzard not decided to move everything onto the battle.net rubbish :(

Well if you have confirmed that this is in fact 100% legit then dont worry too much about what i have to say here.

How ever over the past 2 or 3 months i have been getting flooded with fake emails telling me "my account has been accessed from an IP address that isn't yours" or "this email is to confirm the changes to your battlenet ID". All of them are from noreply[at]blizzard[dot]com when the official blizzard support email is donotreply[at]blizzard[dot]com (or the other way around, i forget and the list of official blizzard support emails is annoying difficult to find at time).

The emails i have got have mostly seemed very convincing and often link to a web page that looks almost identical to battlenet and the address is so subtly different its hard to tell. They often change the battlenet[dot]com to something like battlenet[comma]com and have the actually address part later in the stupidly long address.

To anyone else who gets an email like this instantly be suspicious, especially if they refer to you as things like "customer" instead of something more personal, and keep in mind that Blizz do not track the IP address you play on and normally do not send confirmation emails when you change basic info in your battlenet account page. I suggest you do what i do and sent a support ticket to blizzard through their support page to confirm, and just be cautious of links

All my tickets have been through battle.net venues, and the original email was from battle.net. I know it was legit, because I couldn't log in to WoW, or any other battle.net service with my email; which is what had been changed.

I've completely ruled out the possibility of that being some scam email. I've had to email blizz/battle.net personally, to try and resolve the issues. If not, then I won't be able to play until I get my ID. >.<

II don't know my original CD-Key.

This could be why it's taking so long.
I have a feeling I had to re-enter my CD key when I got hacked. It's a fair enough security policy. How you get around this without having your original box I really don't know.

/crappy answer, I know
//sorry
