I haee just had the worst experience ever with my crappy laptop after download sound drivers for my sound card that that didn't work then i had to roll. but that was fine I could live ith that
THEN f****** windows updater said it had updates for my sound card, I thought cool maybe this'll work, then it decided to update itself to vista sp1, fine, i thought, but this took over an hour to do.
when it finally came back on, I had no sound! and I couldn't roll back to the old one!
so i did a restore which took another half hour of my life, this managed to put back, but I'm never updating this again.

I'm gonna save up for and buy a proper high speed gaming pc!!

sorry, just needed to rant and rave there.

whoa, chill dude.

If oyu are using Vista you need to make sure that EVERYTHING in it is recent (as in, < 2 years or so old) otherwise you will have massive driver issues.

Check your soundcard/motherboard manufacturer's website rather than using the drivers on windows update.

Also, are you sure it's not something like a dodgy volume setting that's causing this?

Does the complete opposite, installs and runs Vista on his 5 year old laptop.

sorry, i'm cool now, i shouldn't have posted that, i was just really angry, sorry.

I had a look on the conexant website and it said that their drivers are only available from the laptop manafacturas site, but the one i had from toshiba didnt work either. my laptops only a year old. i don't even think the sound drivers will fix my problem anymore.

as I said, I'll just learn to live with it jumping every couple of minutes.

hey this is the best place to rant, you'll either get helpful info or Trax making noise.

:p

Never feel you can't rant.

One solution is always back all your stuff up and reformat, that is extreme but not always too much of a bother for a laptop.

best of luck with it
