Hey guys! Got a wee problem with my laptop that I need you techno wizards to help me with. Recently, I wiped my laptop because it was running slowly and after doing so, several games are giving me some graphical difficulties, difficulties which are quite difficult to show you all. For instance, when I open a box in a game or when there is a box already on screen, the screen glitches and several "triangles" begin to bolt across the screen, yet when I take a screenshot, it seems like everything is fine and that I'm imagining things. An example of this "box" would be like opening your friends tab in WoW or being on the Bf2 BFHQ where there are several tabs at the top ( the tabs being the "boxes" as such. This is extremely irritating and something which I have not been able to repair in several hours of tinkering and searching the net for people with similar problems. Thanks in advance, Decky.

Specifications of my laptop: Acer Aspire 5633WLMi
Intel Core 2 Duo T5500 1.66 GHz
15.4" WXGA Acer Crystalbrite LCD
128MB Nvidia Geforce Go 7300
2GB DDR2
160GB HDD

EDIT: It seems like the "triangles" are parts of the box being stretched across the screen ie. if you look carefully, you can see parts of the image in the box in the triangles that are flying across the screen

Sounds to me like an issue either with DirectX and/or your graphics drivers. Make sure you have the latest versions of both installed.

The fact that screenshots seem fine whne examining them probably rules out a hardware fault, unless something seriously massively screwy is going on with your monitor.

I'm like 95% sure I've got the latest of both. I'm Perplexed. :S Like I said, the only problem seems to be when there are boxes on screen, CoH and Warhammer both work fine for me, There only seems to be a problem with Bf2 and WoW, not sure about some of my other games though.

Seems to me like your graphics card is overheating. Might not be. Try reinstalling on of the games thats giving you issues.

If my graphics card was overheating, would it not affect all games universally? Just tried CoH and it worked perfectly.

Well it's possible one game is putting more of a strain on your card then others would. But I mean CoH is much more stressful than WoW so I suppose that rules out overheating. Hrm...
