New ATI graphics drivers

For those of you (like me) that have an ATI Radeon 9xxx series card, ATI have recently released a major update to their drivers. I'm about to reboot my system having just installed them, so wish me good luck! A link to the download page is here: https://support.ati.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=894&task=knowledge&questionID=640

EDIT: well after an initially slow startup, everything seems ok! and apparently an annoying bug due to the graphics card in WoW has now been fixed! :D

In Cryo Sleep
for some reason you cant download catalyst drivers with just the control panel anymore, instead you have to dl the whole control center which i really hate
ill stick to my 5.11 for now :(

When you run the installation, you can run the advanced set up and you can deselect the catalyst control center, so it will not install.

My computer doesn't start up when I install ATI drivers newer than 4.3

Might this be the lucky version that works? Not bloody likely, but I'll give it a try...

I've found a few anomalies while installing past ATI drivers, including this one. One time, a part of the installation failed to install itself causing the update to crash completely, and be incomplete. Twice, the second time being with this update, it would fail to install the catalyst control center. I had to install the driver twice before it did so...

ye i dont think you can have the control panel like before at all

What do you mean by this? I need you to be more specific.
The control panel is optional, if you do an advanced install you can tell it not to install the catalyst control center.
I want the catalyst control center, but it took two instals to get it to work for some reason.

You can have the control panel if you want it, but a pre-requisite for the control panel is that you have the Microsoft Visual Studio.NET Framework installed. I believe it is offered to you as an optional install when you go to windows update. I'm not going to go into exactly what it is as you technophobes out there probably won't understand, but get this installed and this may help solve some of your problems with installing and/or running the Catalyst Control Center
