New Ed Community Squad!

Hey guys to my delight I would like to offer all of our community members the chance to play BF2 in the EnemyDown 8vs8 ladder!

This will not be to replace friendlys or indeed practice nights. It will mearly be for those of us and any one within THN who arn't in the enemydown 16vs16 ladder.

There will be no static teams and all are welcome to play on a competetive yet fun ladder :D

But the only problem we have right now is we need the master admin of whom signed up THN to ED to sign us up to the 8vs8 ladder!

I must ask as to why this action is being taken, what or where is the justification or need for a second ED team? Is there even enough players to fill a second team?

I also fear that there is a gung-ho attitude to entering the ED, Where is the plan?:
Who is available
Have you checked with Haven
Have you asked Ronin, as to what web requirements there will be
Have you the support of a server admin


Finally, a big Why?

What exactly is wrong with community friendlies, I personally take it quite offensive that it's not good enough to play in an organised match versus another clan, have you noticed there is a match arranged for this coming Sunday?

What is wrong with the mini-league? Has it been decided that we're not going to use this readily structured community project?

What I am trying to say, is why on earth are we neglecting the community aspect of THN again? We're not here to earn points on an imaginary table, and as Gibson has put it before "this is not about stats, it's about fun" so why has it seemingly been decided that it will be a great idea to stamp all over the community friendlies and the mini-league, in order to impose yet another layer of stats and ranking?

If you can justify another ED team, and why it should replace the mini-league and THN friendlies, then fine you have my utmost support. At this moment in time however, I am not prepared to allow the community aspect of THN be destroyed. Just because there is a want to involve a stupid table to record our stats and figures, why do we need more complication, are we forgetting the simple and main attraction of BF2 : That is it is fun to play?

You can't go ahead and migrate your own THN ED team into the ladder, what purpose would it serve to all of us playing as a clan? We play as one group to show off our skills to other clans and to enjoy ourselves.
What was the word from phatBambi on another ladder? Has he approved this?
Basically, what Fishy has said is what I agree with, read what he is said. I now want more information from yourself LynxGB as to what the heck you are doing?

well first of all it is a good idea from Lynx GB but I must admit there hasn't been any planning, the roster for the 32 player maps is there for competition,t make us strive to be in that team and work extra hard with friendlies and mini-league.

Well there is alot of point, what if you didnt get into the 32 ladder? It must be pretty boring to just sit around and not participate just cus supposedly better people got in then you. pHatBambi has approved of this. And anyway, its 8v8.

And anyway why you guys so offended?

I think it could be workable for people who don't get into the main ladder squad. Also possibly for people like me who can't be around for Tuesday night practices

I have agreed to the idea in principle but nobody has taken any time to discuss this with me. You will also have to win over the rest of the admin team. My word is never final. The admins can vouch for that.

Lynx and Gibson. If you are taking the matle of responsibility then make sure you do this properly. I will not allow anything to happen until you have a team at the very least. Remember you will be wearing the [THN] tag so I don't want anything slapdash.

Come back to me when you have a list of people wishing to play.

Gibson you are going to have to make a decision between the 32 and the 16 also. You cannot have both. I won't detract from the existing clan to start a new one.

Remember guys you don't have to rush into this. There's plenty going on for you to be involved in. Fi$hy's post explains this. You will need to gain more people before you will be able to guarantee numbers. Don't be so hasty.

Then get into the ladder through training, this comes off as a "I can't be arsed so I'll sulk and form my own version" that's all

No-one's offended, this just seems to be a "lets not bother with the other aspects of THN" and if that line is followed, then it's inevitable that those who give up their time to organise those aspects are going to be offended.

Do realise that most people who join now are never going to get into the ED 32 ladder team. Its ok for the other guys who are in.

Well pHatbambi, could i stay in the 32 ladder and help out with the 16, but not actually play in it?

That's a hell of a large assumption Gibson, and I sure hope you have something to back it up, are you suggesting that the ED team, and the admin team as a whole, are biased in some way other than towards dedication and talent?

Secondly, you still havn't answered my original question, what is wrong with the mini-league and friendlies? are they not competitive enough? after all it's your input that matters there.

Doesnt matter, i suppose all the admins are against the idea so theres not much point.

Actually no, no admin is completly against the idea, it just hasn't been sold to them.

Get a decent justification, a show of approval, some detailed planning, and stop with the flaming, and you'll have my support and I expect others will follow too.

As it stands, there's a lot of anger here, that yet again I can't see a reason for, I'm asking questions not giving answers mate

Hey all,

Hopefully this issue has been sorted now.

I've spoken to Gibson and the admins.

If a second team is to be created it will have to be done so properly and with the admins approval.

In the mean time I would like to see the Mini League up and running. We have put in a lot of time to get this going for the community adn I think it will be a good thing for all involved.

Lynx if you are serious about running a second team I suggest you maybe have a chat with me about it first.
