New Monitor time.

Yay, finally a monitor thats picture doesnt shake and cause nausea and dizzyness as you run around trying to shoot things.

I've just got myself a silly monitor in the form of a
[SIZE=+1]DELL Ultrasharp 2405FPW 24", with a native 1920x1200 resolution I was a bit worried how this would cope with games.

Well fortunately the games I play mostly support this resolution.

UT2004 was fine running in 1920x1200
I got a couple of screenshots for both Guildwars and CS:S running in 1920x1200.

BF2 ... lets not go there. It runs fine at 1024x768 and doesnt look too stretched :)

I'll slap up an image or two of the monitor in action once I can find the cable for the digital camera *frowns*.

Bottom line on this monitor, slight bit of ghosting at very high speed - its not as responsive as my old monitor but the picture quality is superb and its certainly game-able with its 16ms response time. And the screen estate I have to play with now is just silly.

I saw a review of this monitor in PC Gamer - they highly recommended. You've made me *really* jealous - that is one nice bit of kit. Just get yourself that new ATi card and you're laughing!

One piece of advice, however: if you can't stretch a game to your resolution, choose a lower but widescreen resolution!

Also, how's the "window in a window" feature I've heard about on this monitor?

Actually, on a related note, I got a "30 inch LCD TV yesterday, but only a 1280x768 resolution... (still HDTV ready though, which is nice :D) - but I have to say that the Dell is kinda eclipsing it (okay, completely!). Hmm - I think this may be one thing that Dell does right!

Window in window is just tapped in the head, basically I've no use for it as I've only got this monitor on a single system but its a nice little gimmic ... just a little mad :) it doesnt seem to allow DVI and D-SUB to be used toegether so its value is somewhat limited for any use to which I would put it.

Yeah its done - I'm not going to template it but if anyone else wants to have a go then give me a shout. I'm still looking for a valid RSS plugin for it ... no luck so far but I'll keep looking and will slap one on so I can integrate it with the rest of the RSS stuff.

Looks very Purty......amazing how much more space you get on a desk with flat screens. I had to shrink from a 21" CRT to a 17" flatscreen 14ms.

Found this picture...

See now all this talk about new kit made me want something....so I've finally dished out for 1GB of RAM for my desktop. Lets hope it helps with those damn loading times.

That it should, Fury. :D Welcome to the modern age! :p

I'll scan the PC Gamer review of this beast when I get some time - they really love this thing (as I'm sure, does haven! :D)

So ghosting isn't a big problem? I would've thought at 16ms that it might be quite annoying...

First day there was a fair bit of ghosting but either I've suddenly become blind to it or the monitor has "burned in". Either way I dont notice any during games now.

I've got a puny 25ms monitor (which was stupendous back in the day when I got the thing... mid 2003) and it has almost no noticable ghosting whatsoever. :D I would expect great things from a 16ms monitor by default. :D
