Hi, i was just wondering if there are any preference settings i can activate to remove certain forums from the new posts tool?

Unfortunately not. There is a mod that would enable this, if I remember correctly, but it's a fairly severe system for quite low benefit.

While not strictly a filter, you can, as a workaround, on the front page before you hit new posts, double-click on the orange icon to the left of the forum name to mark that whole forum and its subforums as read (the icon will go from orange to blue), such that it will not show up in the new posts search.

Bloke thats brilliant, and it works with the little one so games chat isnt ruled out, nice information.
