Oblivion Official Mods.

Bethesda have just released a new official mod allowing you to add armor to your horses. However, it costs...but only $2 U.S.

So, I bought it and uploaded it to serenity for all you cheapsk8s.

However, should you wish to buy the mod you can do so here. You can also view what the next to details are for the next two official mods are there.

Cheers T-Bone. Yes - should developers charge for extra content in small doses like this, or should they be free? Discuss.

Oh noes! Soapbox!

No. They shouldn't be charging like this. What will happen is we will start to get games totally devoid of actual content, and they'll add all the content one piece at a time, charging for each bit.

Re: Oblivion Official Mods.

Maybe they'll just do it in-game. As you wander over the hill *stutter stutter load load* a new castle appears *-120 credits, new location added*. After wandering through the castle and defeating the evil zorg emperor you find a chest *stutter stutter load load* containing the awsome aubergene of justice *-40 credits, new model added*.

Add the above to the new price per MB system that all ISP's will have brought into place and the monthly fee for the game + the intial game costs and we're all going to need payrises.

And I'm even going to go into in-game billboard advertising ...

I just wish the open source community could get it toegether enough to create a decent MMORPG engine :(

Bethesda are still rolling out new mini-patches at just under $2 each. Another new one is a Wizard's Tower.

Bethesda said:
Located high in the Jeral Mountains of Cyrodiil away from prying eyes, this add-on makes the Wizard's Tower, Frostcrag Spire, become available. Packed with numerous useful enhancements, this structure will prove invaluable to magic-oriented characters.

All available from their web site.

I think he probably could have, but I know I was too scared to use thread merging - I've not done it yet and I'm paranoid about breaking something.

I dont really mind charging for new content, as long as they dont go overboard. Plus, it really is quite a cool novelty on the 360. I downloaded 12 new cars for PGR3 (really good ones, too) for a small fee and im pleased. I was considering buying The Orrery for Oblivion, but I might wait until I make my second character before getting it. Plus, I want to save money in case any new cars are released again for PGR3.
