if anyone has ever read the bible, he might have come across Chapter 25 in the Deuteronomy, where the following extract can be found from line 11 to 12

11 If two men are fighting and the wife of one of them comes to rescue her husband from his assailant, and she reaches out and seizes him by his private parts,
12 you shall cut off her hand. Show her no pity.

mmm seems fair to me :P

*shudders and walks away a little strangely*

But then again there's many nasty things you can read about in books - doesn't mean you should actually follow them.

I'm sure there are lines about stoning women for adultery or infidelity too. It's... well, it's archaic if nothing else.

I lol'd. There's some good stuff in that book, anyone that works on a Sunday should be stoned to death apparantly. You can't do alot without being stoned to death it seems. Bummer really :p

harsh though it sounds you also need the context. sexist though it may sound the male private parts, and damage there of, was seen as attacking that persons family. The woman were expected to clean and keep the house in order and in order for this their hands were needed.

in essence this passage is that the punishment shall fit the crime, and justice may be harsh but it shall be administered fairly
