Ok, so I repaired windows, and it's more or less broke my computer. I've managed to get it so it connects to the internet, so I'm going to take it one step at a time.

First problem:
When I scroll down the THN site for example, or when I move a window, the thing goes so slowly, it's like it's loading a .png if you know what I mean. This does this the whole time. I'm having a feeling that I'm running my PC in safe mode or something as I can't hibernate my computer. Rep for anyone who fixes it!

When you reinstalled Windows, have you updated all of your drivers? If not, I'm guessing the graphics driver will be VERY old and generic, which might be to do with the slowness of moving windows around.

As for the not being able to hibernate, no idea at the moment. Will look into it...

lots of money
and 1 fooked comp

step 1: mix Nanor with foot and boot

step 2: kick the fooked comp repeatidly

if i were u i'd make a folder of installers and drivers and such like (adobe office type things) then for future reformatting which is handy to do every 6 months or so. then keep it updated and stuff every month or so so if its a deliberate reformat or if the pc just dies then u can quickly and easily do it. tis the way to do it. get a complete reformat and install of the tings u need in under 45 mins easy.

Yay rep for me! And in reply to waterproofbob, I update drivers on an almost weekly basis. I'm not having a folder of drivers that I'll then need to update as well! When I reinstall, it's:
  • Install windows
  • Windows update to get the security patches
  • Install ZoneAlarm and Norton AV
  • Open IE, and go to FireFox homepage
  • Close IE, load FireFox
  • Download sound, graphics, network card, and other needed drivers
  • Install drivers
  • Install games
  • Play games :D

i do sort of fortnightly checks but i just stick the installers all togetther so when i want to redo it i just have it all there ready.
i'm very lazy :D :D :D :D :D

also i never used to have internet connection so i made sure that i had as many drivers as possible.
