Tbh, it's common sense that you'd need a chicken before a chicken egg... only a chicken can lay a chicken egg, otherwise it's some kind of other egg.

Science wasn't even necessary!

True, and yet the chicken is a genetic mutation of another "chickenlike" prehistoric animal and probably was born in an egg.

But the egg it was born from was a chickenlike egg, not a chicken egg ;P

I suppose it depends on whether you name the egg after what it's laid by, or what hatches from it...

I fail to see what is sensationalist or pointless about researching how eggs are formed so we can use the techniques to form similar materials of our own...

Not to piss on the parade, but don't we generally crack eggs open? Where could eggshell-type material be used? Unless you're thinking of making it super thick and using it as some kind of crazy egg armour?

many vaccines are cultured in eggs ( i know this as my brother used to be deathly allergic to eggs and couldn't have the MMR because of it), so there are many other possible uses for the protein.

Hoy, :)

my brother used to be deathly allergic to eggs

Wait, what? Used to be? How does that work?

(I ask because my father is deathly allergic to egg whites and, after several decades, it shows no sign of going away...)

Cheers,
J.
