There was never any talk of The Haven going hardcore. It won't, and IMO,
shouldn't. The very reason so many people return is the relaxed atmosphere and lack of pressure.
Don't get me wrong guys, I appreciate that those who left were basically the ones who had been running most of the content, and therefore you almost had to start from scratch. I'm in no way trying to put you down on what you've achieved, or claim you haven't gone at it 110% as you all do.
When I say the raiding wasn't taken seriously enough, I mean pre-Cata tbh. The Cata style was far more how we were back in the glory days of TBC, and I really did enjoy it. With the lapse of WotLK we really had to go for the "do or die" approach in Cata, as people were already reluctant to come back to what felt like the same old grind. In the end, although the content was new, the game still felt stale, and rather than fall out with a game we'd loved for years, we called it and went off to try and get fulfilment elsewhere.
Maybe "opposite direction" was a tad too strong, I'll admit I was wrong on that. What I meant by it is the strongly disciplined approach we took at the start of Cata has now been (afaik) dropped, and the raiding is being taken as more of a fun "if we get something down that's cool, if not then no big deal". Whilst I agree raiding should be fun, I found it most fun when I felt like I was being pushed to do my utmost, and really struggling to get those kills in there every week. I just tend not to flourish when I'm not under pressure, and I know some others who left are also these type of people.
Once again, in no way am I putting any of you down for anything which has happened since the exodus. Within the scope of gaming, the vast majority of my best memories have been things I did with The Haven, and I have nothing but respect for its members, past and present.
