hey guys, just thought i'd say that im having some real problems with my pc atm, as my network connection isnt working atall.

my pc isnt connecting to my router OR my modem, which means its trying to dynamically allocate an ip address -> "private ip", when it shouldnt be. from my computer it is also lagging REALLY badly when i go to control panel -> network connections, and it crashes "explorer" (windows) each time i try and start my computer!

im at the end of my tether here, and ive tried deleting windows, reinstalling windows, and finally reformatting my windows drive, but nothing is working!

hopefully i'll see you guys in wow, if not, i'll be punching through a 19" TFT near you! (pretty soon!)

and yeah, i have the bloody power!

Is this something that happened only very suddenly? Is your network card built in to the motherboard? Can you buy a cheap network card and see if that helps (should be able to pick up a 10/100 NIC for only £10)?

When you check your router, are you getting the "cable connected" lights, or is nothing happening at all? Are you using a straight through rather than crossover cable?

Smells like a hardware failure to me, given the crash, and given your reinstall still not helping. I'd just pick up a new PCI NIC. D-Link have always served me well for NICs.
