After reading this article on the bbc website, I thought to myself....

"I wonder what everyone on THN uses to keep their PCs secure?"

So what do you use? Antivirus, Anti-spyware, firewalls, etc

I personally use Panda Titanium 2006 Antivirus + Antispyware, backed up with regular sweeps using Lavasoft Ad-Aware and Webroot Spy Sweeper.

Your link works not!

Anyway, Norton AV (not part of Internet Security), ZoneAlarm Pro firewall, Ad-Aware anti-adware, Spybot S&D anti-spyware. Never had a major problem with these, except when it's been an ID-10-t problem :)

I use a bit of a mixture:

  • Anti-virus: AVG
  • Anti-adware: LavaSoft Adaware
  • Firewall: On my router

Doesn't Adaware cover a bunch of spyware too?

It does, but I have found that Spybot finds things that Ad-aware doesn't, and Ad-aware finds things Spybot doesn't! As they are both free, and don't conflict with each other really, it can't hurt to use both :)

I use a different spyware product now instead of the spybot/ad-aware combo. I also find that it works MUCH better as it finds EVERYTHING! (i hope ;)) it's called Ewido and is also very simple to use. I personally don't use the resident shield.

I also don't have a personal firewall... I just rely on my router's one. Not ever had a problem!

O and for antivirus I use AVG, but again don't have it running ini the background. I just use it to scan any suspect files individually.

I use the free AntiVir virus scanner and Windows Defender for spyware. Our router provides our firewall.

I use, Bitdefender Profesional Plus, for my Firewall, along with my AV and Antispam etc.

Aswell as this I use Adaware SE Profesional, and Registry Booster.

I also use a utility package called "System Mechanic Pro" it is a nice little integrated package with lots of useful utilities :).
