I was having a discussion at work today and i can't remember all the details properly to back up what i was saying and was wondering if anyone else read the same thing.

When Final fantasy the spirits within came out there was an article about how computer generated images were not accepted if they were too close to the real thing. There was a graph with it showing a "well" effect closer you got to real, but i can't find anything on the net about it.

Can anyone remember this?

Don't remember a link with FF, but I know of the phenomen well, and yes, I believe D is correct in the "Uncanny Valley"

Heh, how weird. We just last week covered this on our uni course (Games Computing).

Its the idea that as you get closer and closer to "perfection" a human will notice more and more flaws in the image/animation, as we view how far it is from being human, rather than how good it is as a piece of CGI.

Youtube link to the first part of 7 in a series about the uncanny valley, charts and all :)

I posted this in my "virals" thread, rather unsettling actually...

edit: totally unrelated, of course. But sharing is caring :D

If we're going to be really picky... The parallax mapping on the front desk (mainly the keyboard and drawer handles) is a bit lacking :p
