Meh thats not that bad compared to some hockey fights i've seen, saw a match in halifax in canada in which a fan leaps over the safety boards to attack a player. then on restart before the puck has hit the ice 2 forwards start at each other and the rest of the team get involved including keepers, then whent the fighters get 2 minutes for roughing one of them gets to the penalty box reaches into his mouth rips out a tooth has a swig of water and gets right back to the game. Best sport in the world

Well thanks for that input. The players didnt jump into the fucking stand and knock lumps out the opposition fans now, did they? Some hockey fights are good, I saw one where the coaches were getting right in on it and hurling insults at each other from their boxes, but for the most part it's just some badly articulated guys flapping around at each other. Basketball causes some insane riots, I think it's mostly the whole gangster image the sport has taken on since the likes of Iverson started playing. Pro basketball seems to be the dream that every ghetto kid has in America. Sadly, they tend not to leave the ghetto behind when they turn pro.

Hey sorry for the lack of input before, wasn't trying to bad mouth that vid in any way, in fact I quite enjoyed it. sorry i meant to write at the end that i liked the vid but much prefer hockey however i got all caught up in my story that i forgot to write that, mucho apologises to you Mr Tets
You can't compare the two, really. In hockey, fans and players are separated by glass, so you don't really get that kind of interaction (other than a few cases where overenthusiastic, and probably drunk, fans have managed to break through the glass.)
The other thing is, with hockey you're almost guaranteed to see a good brawl if you're at a game. Fighting is really a part of the game as a whole.

yeah it is,
nothing like a really good goaltender fight especially when one player doesn't take their helmet off.

Not to worry bob, I should apologise myself for overreacting. Sorry! I'm feeling a crotchety at the moment ... no matter.
It's true that, in hockey, fights do tend to be part of the game, and so it should be. Footballers, B-ball players, hockey players - all paid entertainers. If it entertains the paying crowd then they must be doing something right. I remember playing NHL 96 or something on the PS1 and discovering, much to my glee, that if you hard tackled people sometimes it started a punchup minigame. But yeah, no hard feelings and all that jazz.
