(This is the abbreviated version of a previous post that Firefox kindly ate in a crash )
I've made a massive change to Play Finder and Games You Play. Details below.
How This Affects You
The Important Notes
Play Finder is about helping THNers find players to play with.
It is not about listing all the games you are interested in or have played once and likely never again.
Only tick games if you'd actually play them at the moment. Consider a random THNer noting that you play a game from your profile and asking you for a game. If you'd not play that game with them in an average week then don't tick the box for that game.
Play Finder gives priority to people who keep their Games You Play profile up to date. Check your games every so often (monthly?) and click the "Save Changes" button to mark them as okay, even if you make no changes.
Questions, Feedback, Etc
If there are games that you think belong on the list then post away. They must be online and multiplayer to qualify.
Please let me know if you see any problems or have any ideas.
I'm not bringing the old fields back, nor am I migrating data from them. It's actually more useful to have a clean break, given the complete change of purpose, than it is to retain the old data. Want to write any old game down? Use the free-text field.
I've made a massive change to Play Finder and Games You Play. Details below.
How This Affects You
- The old Games You Play fields have been retired. They still exist but are read-only, no longer appear at registration, and eventually will be deleted. Play Finder no longer uses these fields.
- There are new Games You Play fields that are more current and available via a special page in your User CP: Edit Games You Play (see important note below). These fields start blank despite what you may have set in the old fields; please fill them in after reading the notes below.
- Play Finder now has filtering to help you find active, interested players for your games.
- There is now a free-text field that is searchable to put in any other random games you'd like to list. They won't show up in Play Finder but they can still be found via the user search functionality. Spelling, of course, is going to need to be accurate...
