So, the second version of Play Finder has been out for a bit over a week. I've used it to kick off a game of Combat Mission with Big D. Looks like the UT2004 event might have been inspired by it. What I really want to know is how you guys 'n' gals are finding it?

Feel free to just vote above but if you have a few more minutes I'd love to hear what you think about three main subjects:

  1. Are there games that you'd like to see on the list that aren't there already?
  2. Do you find Play Finder and its companion Games You Play profile page easy to use?
  3. Are there any other features you'd like to see presented through Play Finder or Games You Play, such as sorting, new filtering options, THN's top-10 games, etc?

If you hadn't already realised, the old Games You Play information is no longer available for update and none of the old information has been migrated. Sometime in the next fortnight or so I'll delete the old fields to clean up our profiles.

  • Can't think of any at the moment. Looks good as is!
  • Yes, very easy. Might be nice to be to show just your games as an option next to the last board activity and last profile update options at the top.
  • Hmmm, filtering as I said above maybe. Sorting might be nice to. Maybe having a all games in one list, in alphabetical order, maybe?

Just one of a number of truly brilliant things you've done with this forum, Ronin. Although I must say that the notices in the shoutbox are the most useful for my rubbish memory. It leaks more than I did when I mistook laxatives for rennies.

I knew I should have asked for direct criticism too...

One more question:

  • Is there anything you don't like about Play Finder?

There just isn't any criticism to give, or at least not from where i'm standing. But a nice additional feature would be to have a button next to every game that would allow you to mass-PM all the players of that game, so that you could make them aware of an upcoming event or important news to do with the game. Dunno if thats possible though.

Maybe there is a little too much information on the one page? Maybe lovely tabs for each of the different types of games? If you have a spare 30 seconds to code it, that is :D

Mmm, yes elD's suggest sounds good, instead of one great long page, some nice tabs would be quite good,

If you could click a game and then a menu would come up where you could "Invite players of this game for a game" which would lead you to a window where you give the time and details which is then put up on the calendar and a PM is sent tp each person who plays that game?

Tabs sounds feasible. I'll give that a go next time I'm poking at that code.

I like Nanor's idea. It'd be something of a bridge between Play Finder and the Event Attendance mod, with some sort of Event Invitations extension. All of that sounds feasible too, and very interesting. Nice idea, Nanor. :)
