PM popup

In my user options, I have the option to pop up an alert when I have a new private message. I just noticed I had a message for over a day now, and there's been no popup. What gives?

Nah, nothing like that. And the way it works in other forums, it uses a javascript alert box, so a popup blocker wouldn't likely catch it anyway.

It could have dissapeared quickly by accident, for example, you could have hit enter or clicked another link, therefor voiding it for future visits to the site. I wonder if you can send PM's to yourself, so you could test it :)

Just sent one to myself, no popup. If someone else wants to try sending one...

EDIT: Got one, and it did the popup this time... Odd :/

I've got it reliably every single time.

FF 1.5.0.1, with FF 1.07 and the old site the popup blocker would get in between, and then i would tell it to accept popups for this site, and it'd still block them...

That javascript error that randomly occurs sometimes, might it prevent the execution of the alert popup?

I suspect that JavaScript error is associated with the lack of popup. I occasionally don't get the popup either, for no apparent reason.

BiG D... you using Firefox with the Fasterfox extension?

Nope. At home I use firefox, but at work I use IE. I missed the first PM from home, as far as I can tell, but I didn't get the popup for a new one at work today when I got another, either...

Well I use IE and have not had any of these issues thus far. (These machines here at Uni do not have firefox for the most part).

Yep, this system needs work. Templating looks like the solution, rather than hacking into the code at this time -- something nice and obvious.
