How cool is that! Seem's a bit Prey-ish to me (;)) but in a weapon form! I like it!

Also, yay for Valve using sounds and effects of the HL2 sentry gun :D

Edit - IGN Portal review. They seem to like it. A lot. And compare it to Prey:

If you've played or heard of Humanhead's Prey, then you know the game offers organic portals throughout a giant sentient alien ship. The portals are dimensional doors into different areas in the ship, and they're graphically and conceptually well implemented and work seamlessly. They're also stationery. In Portal, a seemingly independent game that ships with the PC version of Half-Life Episode 2, and the bundle of Half-Life 2, Episode 1, 2, and Team Fortress 2 on Xbox 360 and PS3, players use a tool that creates portals on the fly. Yes -- a gun that creates instant openings through walls that transport you in the bat of an eye to another place.

A tiny little difference that makes a big change. And that's not to say that Prey isn't good - I love it!

Worth a new post I feel.

It seems this idea isn't new... The dev team who made Portal made another game, Narbacular Drop, as a free game (school project or something). Valve said, "That's pretty cool... Want a job?", at which the team said, "YES PLEASE!". Take the gun from Narbacular Drop, add the grav gun capabilities, and BOOM! Portal is born.

So download ND while you wait for Portal :D I'm downloading it now, to see what it's like. I'll post up about it later.

Oh, and also, you can add Portals, on the fly, in Prey with a console command! \o/

So, ok. Narbacular Drop is pretty damn fun. Quite short (being a project), but damn fun! Give it a go!

So, a little more info on Portal. It seems that the Portal universe is actually part of the Half-Life universe. The player is a new character who will eventually be part of HL-whatever, with the story lines merging at some point.

Sounds a bit weird to me, and sounds like a very easy way to explain the sentry guns/orbs of doom/etc having the same sounds/weapons in both games. But still. It might be good. I'm still gonna buy Portal :)

Original find on Slashdot games.

I think they won't merge, freeman had nothing special like the portal gun.

Probably just another good puzzle game they cooked up.
