The timeslot is 13:00 to 21:00ish but we may be taking breaks in there. I'm planning on playing a lot of the day, starting from after lunch to mid-evening, providing my connection doesn't go titsup.com (again ).

Playing on the [PTG] server, all willing.

Am not sure if i want to play or not, played earlier avec Piacular and Nanor and am a little unsure about whether or not i want to play if earlier was anything to go by.

Bob, that'd depend on what your earlier experience was like. What's got you spooked about PR?

Pubic, it'd be good to see you if you can make it. I'll have XFire on so you'll see if we're about when you are.

well my first experience was ctd and connection lose, then it was dieing alot without seeing anyone. Then playing later on had a map with huge lag and more dieing from the invisible overlords of death. Also having no idea of the layouts of any map didn't help especially as you die so fast in this. However i can see how with knowledge of the maps you could easily have a lot of fun pulling off real life section attack manoveurs. However being the ass face that i am i've just realised that there is rugby on saturday so i'm afraid if i do get to play it will be later in the afternoon/evening and i may not be entirely sober.

We're hoping that the server-side patch will have been released before Saturday, which should help some of the lag (though not the CTD... not had any of that yet).

And squad up with me. :) I know the maps some and Piacular can atest to my squad leadership. We're going to die; my aim is to make sure that it doesn't happen often and that we kill a bunch of people right before and right after. :D

Just been poking around the PR Wiki, and found some interesting info.

First for Bob, is the scoring system :).

Then, for the rest of us, the locations of secret weapons of Al Basrah!

USMC special forces gets a parachute!

I am so going to try using the claymores with the clacker :D.

AND! Engineers can put up to 8 mines down! (Need to resupply though), and they last for 10 minutes after death!

Oh, and apparently Insurgents spawn in half the time, no wonder thery're everywhere :).

I'm gonna download this and have a wee bash, as I'm doing bugger all tommorow :).

Probably pants at it, but if it's anything at all like BF2 then I should get along ok :).

Well, there are guns and you shoot people. Sometimes there are tanks and you try to avoid getting shot by them. Yeah, some similarities. ;)

Seriously, though, it plays like a shooter but the pacing is very different to BF2. Fighting can be short and brutal but, because guns kill so quickly in PR, there's also sense in suppressing fire ('cause a stray round will kill you just as dead as a deliberate aimed shot), using smoke, advancing by bounds. Fire fights can be as much about putting fire on a location as they are about shooting at the enemy. Just think a little more like you were there and, I find, you tend to do pretty well.

Squad up with me and we'll do our best to keep you on your feet long enough to figure out the differences. :)

I'm just waiting for my shopping delivery to arrive and to get some lunch. Then I'll be heading on. Already on Xfire. :)
