Pre TBC Raiding and You

Good Evening/ Morning /Afternoon or indeed Brunch from your humble correspondent to you, dear Reader.

Right, now. Before the plethora of pomp, circumstance and skettis that is The Burning Crusade there was a fair bit of fun to be had plundering the murderous depths in the world of olde.

I propose to reignite the passionate depths of proper raiding (none of this new rubbish). Some of you may ask why? So, Good Sir , since your question is noble and valid , it shall be answered. Oh yes, it shall.

Some of the stuff that drops in these instances is STILL USEFUL, strange though it may seem, like a rain of haddock or a camel made of cheese. The enchant from ZG, some of the AQ books and the Gems from BWL. Oh yes.....

Secondly, alot of people (Zhinrak springs to mind) didnt get to see the old world content. Quite honestly i couldnt give a flying fuck about the lore , but theres some who could , and i assume its usefull for them too.

Thirdly: Its fun

Fourthly: The day someone in the haven has to justify doing something fun is the day we all disband and join chaos engines.


So, how are we going to do this?

Well , if it was up to me , Id use something sensible like GEM. But lithy is ultimately in charge , and for reasons adequately explained to me, he doesnt want to use it. thats fine.
Im not just going to try and put a group together on an evening , because quite frankly its a bastard trying to do that with PuGs, nevermind guild.
Instead im going to start by putting a post up on the forums and people can mail me when they want to come.

We shall begin with ZG and AQ20, then move on to MC when i get some guys their attunements.

Worry not , i have experience up untill mid-Naxx, so i know what im doing.

count me in definitely though I can't do it from monday through to thursday generally as thats our raiding days but any other is good for me and I love the old content.. still would like to see full AQ20 + AQ40, and onyxia's which I've still never been in and also full BWL which I've done half of.

Put up an event and I'll try to be there!

I personally would prefer that we try and use the GroupCalendar mod since GEM does my head in, and I wouldn't have to -yet again- go through the torture of explaining to dozens of people how to configure it...

Anyhoo, GroupCalendar has been updated and seems more stable, and one of the key issues before was people spamming the calendar with Birthday events; too many events on it and it can start to go wonky, and those Birthday events were contributing to the wonkyness. Deleting old raid sign-ups when they arne't needed anymore also helps; basically, if we're just reasonably sensible about keeping it tidy, it's more than usable for us.

As for the raiding to do; well, for a while now I have been tossing about the idea of doing the old "Sceptre of the Shifting Sands" quest chain (the one to give the mallet to bang the gong and open the gates of Ahn'qiraj). Whilst the gates are already open, the questline CAN be taken, and there are some unique bosses and events along the way that I'd quite like to have a go at.

In order to do this, Brood of Nozdormu rep will be needed, and this can be gained inside AQ20 and AQ40, and the rest I am willing to grind (I found that AoE grinding the necessary mobs in Silithus to get the Carapace drops is easy now, since they're all non-elite). In order to advance past the point of the chain I'm currnetly on, I'd need to kill the Broodlord in BWL, but doing the old 40 man raids comes under Pre-TBC raiding

If people are interested in doing this, we'd be running MC, Onyxia, BWL, killing the four Dragons of Nightmare, killing Dr. Weavil, and summoning and slaying Eranikus, Tyrant of the Dream (a far bigger, badder version of the Eranikus from Sunken Temple; some guilds had to have a full 40-man and extra help to get the DPS in)

Oh, and we'd need UBRS and BRD raids to get people attuned... well, more fun (I personally like UBRS, and I love BRD - especially for nostalgia's sake - once in a while)

So... what would people think of doing the old Sceptre chain? I'm going to be trying to get it done regardless for personal reasons

The Sceptre chain sounds good to me. I already have the MC and BWL attunements done, though I don't have a Seal of Ascension.

The quests are all easy enough a trio of 70s (with at least one heal-capable person between them) can likely do the vast majority of it, although if you get a series of 5-man groups to do it (and team them up into 10-mans to max out the number of people in UBRS at once), then it'd be nice and easy.

If you could break out some links and a sensible plan for getting everyone attuned one step at a time I'd be up for it.

Mmm, AQ20 would be good; need to build up Lithy's rep with teh Brood of Nozdormu, and I do like the encounters in there, refreshingly different for the most part

I'm in on whatever you guys want to do regarding pre-TBC raids.

I have MC and BWL attunement and I have a Seal of Ascension. Glory me. (And thanks to those that helped, you know who you are.

The only thing is, work has been kind of hectic of late and I've been managing my days to the extent that I can see them in front of me, which means, I may have to bail part-way through some of the lenghtier events.

That said, I'd welcome the chance to complete the whole kitten kaboodle, although, in all probability, nothing will get me to Naxx before it goes away.
