Printer with Cheap ink refils

Hi everyone!!

My Canon Smartbase MPC200 printer keeps coming up with error 335. I have searched the internet and it looks like an unfixable hardware fault.

Looks like I will need to get a new printer. What I noticed in looking through the usual websites is that printers are incredibly cheap but the ink cartidges are ridiculously expensive!

I have had my old MPC200 for about 5 years now but the great thing about it was I could buy replacement imitation (not offical canon) cartridges for about £1.50 from www.inkspot.co.uk

So does anyone know of an "all in one" printer/scanner/copier that has relatively cheap imitation ink cartidges.

Thanks in advance!!

Hmm, I've never used an all-in-one printer before. I'm one of those people who believes in buying separates when purchasing specialist hardware, as with the computer market. Maybe I'm just kidding myself.

Still, I'm pleased with my Canon Pixma iP4500 that I bought relatively recently and I get my ink cartridges from Printer Inks.

The printer takes a CMYK set as separates, with an extra pool for pigment black for mass copy. That pigment black is a larger pool and costs £8ish bought individually, and the separate CMYK cartridges are around £7ish each. However, I don't change them particularly regularly and I buy in bulk so I drive the price down. Printer Inks do a 3 for 2 offer, and then bundles for even more discount, so while I might spend a lot in one go I don't spend a lot over time.

Still, that'd leave you buying a scanner separately. That could easily double as a copier...

But this is probably all sounding far too expensive for you.
