I just downloaded the latest NS and Steam won't pick it up, even after reboot. It's installed in sourceapps/ns which was the default directory, but it doesn't want to work.

I think I actually have two installs of HL on my compy at home... I should check on that...
Fuzzy Bunny said:Just use the CD key that came with your copy of HL. Mine was pre-steam and it worked just fine.
DeZmond said:A word of caution here: some owners of the original Sierra version of HL may actually not be able to register with steam because in the early days Sierra ended up dispatching duplicate keys. There's no way round the issue other than to buy a new copy from steam or a new retail version (like the Generations pack). Valve insist the issue is Sierra's fault for duplicating CD keys and Sierra insist that since the game works if you run it via the retail CD that they've supplied you a 'working copy' and so don't have to do anything further.
Not experience, luckily, but I have heard tales of this happening (and valve's word on it via the Steam Support system).
