Here's a link to the BBC news story about play.com starting to sell the PS3 despite it not hitting the shops till November.

Although even if you order it now play says...

..because of an expected European shortage, it cannot guarantee delivery before Christmas.

Eeep £550 oh well not as bad as it could have been, but it looks like its going to be a 360-like fiasco all over again.
