Question about rock band guitar

The one you get with the beatles rock band..

Is the flicking bit int he middle supposed to "click" like the guitar hero ones do? As it's wobbly and doesn't click back to the middle. It works when you strum but doesn't bounce back up right.

I need to know if it's faulty or intentional before I bother to pack it all back up..

It is supposed to be a bit more "squidgy" and not necessarily "click" like the original Guitar Hero ones (which is what we had at i40) as far as I am aware, but it should still be snapping back to the middle once you have strummed it.

I would suggest that you google the problem. Theres a lot of people who think the same and I know when i got the rock band guitar, i found a few good websites with some suggestions on how to make it less sucky.

With the normal rock band guitar (e.g. not the beatles one), there are extra little clips on which you can add rubber bands to increase the tension between the strum bar and the case. Theres also squidgy foam pads as well you push against, which makes it very smooshy.

If you're handy with tweaking, unscrew it, and play around inside until it feels like you want it to.

I do prefer the guitar hero clicky guitar myself, compared to the rock band one. Although I managed to do Hysteria bass on expert on the shitty RB guitar, so im guessing it doesn't make as much a difference as I originally thought!

ok, well if it's not faulty that's a relief.. just takes some getting used to :)

Have you heard latest on RB3? They have made it so you can play it like a game like we do now (just for fun) or go pro, buy the new instruments and actually learn to play note by note. The new guitar apparently has over 100 buttons.. which on one hand sounds neat, but on the other - what if just one of them breaks? :p

The keybaord can either be played traditionaly with 5 colours or as a proper keyboard as well (it can also be plugged into windows and used as a regular keyboard).

Interstingly the only change on the drums is the addition of three cymbals (to be used as well as the existing drums, not as optional different pads) - I knew they were the most realistic of the intruments.. probably why I like them so much! I just hope they release a triple cymbal pack seperately as atm they're so hard to come by (can only get in states?) and very overpriced.

My guitar has over 100 buttons. It's called... a guitar ;-)

surely it gets to the point where you could just use a normal guitar with some form of special pickup to work out which string and fret is played, rather than requiring buttons?

Yes.

You are wrong.

I feel this is a subject about which I can speak upon with some sort of authority. (Ask bob or Ghostwolf)

normally I'd disagree just for the sake of it, but when it comes to GH stuff, panda is rather good :p. Also I really dislike the RB guitar. I got used to it at one point but as soon as I started using the GH one again it is sooo much nicer to play.

Well yeah, if they make it so a regular guitar can connect to a game and tell you when you hit the right/wrong notes.

Panda with issues...

At one point i became the man in yahtzee's GH3/GH WT review... (I can't remember which it was), mercilessly hunting down capable opponants and defeating and humiliating them, just to exert my dominance. It was...a dark time.

The RB guitar we were using at i40 was modified - I'd opened it up and removed the foam, as I hated the squishyness. I prefer the white one I brought up, I *like* the clicky, it's a haptic feedback thing.
