Raid Sign-ups and you: the new raid system (ALL RAIDERS READ)

Before you start reading the rest of this thread, don't panic! This is not a change to the way we conduct our raids, run the guild, or otherwise go about most things in the guild. It's a change only to how the sign-ups for raids will work for the time being (this may change in time, but this is for now).

For this week only:

I won't go over the reasons for this system being used, as many of you either already know or never cared :P

In the past, many people were confused over what dictated the people that got raid spots, and there could be confusion on the day. To avoid this, the group that will get to go to the given raid will be sorted out the day before the event takes place, and thus sign-ups for the events will close in advance also.

If you wish to attend a raid, you must be signed up BEFORE 11pm server time (10pm UK time) of the night before the raid, as this is when the sign-ups will close. Shortly after that, a raid roster will be posted of the people who have been picked to form a working group for the raid the next day, along with a list of primary reserves (people who'll get picked first if one of the listed group members is a no-show or has to go early). This roster will be posted in the actual event thread itself, not as a post in this part of the forums, so keep an eye on that space if you've signed up.

People who do not get a raid spot, you will be noted as having missed out, and you will get a priority spot for the next week's equivalent raid. If for whatever reason you don't get into the next raid on, you will be guaranteed a spot, no matter what.

Only Trial Raiders and above can sign for this weeks' raiding, Members and below will not get a spot.

When the sign-ups are posted, the group listed is not to be contested or debated; that IS the group that will attend the raid.

For after this week's raiding:

We are firming up the use of the Trial Raider and Progression ranks in the guild, so any prospective raiders will want to pay attention to this:

1) Any prospective raider starts as a Trial Raider. A Trial Raider -can- get into a raid, but will only be picked if there are no suitable Progression raiders. A Trial Raider will have equal loot rights to everyone else present in a raid and will be treated as the same. A Trial Raider MUST include the words "Trial Raider" in their sign-up.

2) To be promoted from Trial Raider to Progression, you have to fulfill to criteria:

-Readiness based on your role. This means DPS need to be close to or at their Hit cap (for melee in particular this is important), and the spellpower/attack power to back up their offensive capabilities. Tanks need to be defence-capped and have over 20k health unbuffed, whilst having sufficient mitigation/avoidance to not be liability. Healers need to have sufficient healing to back up their spells. All mana-users need to have an minimum amount of mana appropriate to their class (Retadins may have 5-6k, hunters and enhancement shammies with 8-10k, and all other casters/healers expected to have over 15k). All non-tanks still need to have over 12k health for some encounters.

-Confirmation from an officer or designated Progression member. Many current members of the guild won't need this as we already know your capabilities, but for new people coming in or those that we are less familiar with, we'll get either an officer or a select few Progression members to do dungeons and Heroics with you to get a feel for how you're playing and give feedback.

Fulfilling both of these criteria will earn a promotion to Progression.

3) Progression members are expected to sign up to at least one raid a month (unless they excuse themselves in advance or talk to an officer about it; we're not going to be harsh!), and will get priority over Trial Raiders for raid spots.

4) No matter what, building a group that will work is top priority. A Trial Raider may get picked in place of a Progression raider for the sake of making a group work. Fairness to the individual will not take priority over fairness to a group; the many come before the few. We will try to make it up to affected people by giving them priority for subsequent inclusions, though.

Right... that should do for now, I'll elaborate further if need be later on!

The raid sign-up for this Friday's raid will be going up in a moment.
