So far we have seen World of Warcraft. Ah, yes. Good ol' Azeroth. Still a bit to explore.
Then came Return of the Space Goats. A.K.A: The Burning Crusade, where you fight oddities and demons, monsters and wear My First Fisher Price gear that glows in the dark!(batteries not included)
And then we got to freeze our hides off in Northrend and battle ghosts, ghouls, more ghouls, ye ol' Cultists, vikings on crack and good ol' fashioned bug squishing plus some drakes, etc.

Soon we will have yet another expansion where we beat the snot out of some old bosses again, that are now hyperactive, cranky and haven't had their morning coffee.

The big question is: What comes after that?
Will we stumble upon Zergs and the Protoss? Will we finally have Warcraft in Space?

These and more things I tend to think on when I am extremely bored.

What do you think of when you are bored?

I think it will die, or blizz will announce "We are not going to release anymore expansions for World of Warcraft" then let players have a couple of years, then take the servers offline, and reveal a Starcraft MMO!

Proper question greeted by 1 serious answer. Love it.

I'm sorry, have you never SEEN the THN forums before? I'm genuinely baffled if you think that we're serious all the time, even more so considering the light-hearted tone of the original post :S

And in all seriousness, I have been thinking on what's to come in WoW, and I genuinely think they won't abandon the game for a good long time yet unless it starts dying in a big way; it's still around the 11.5 million subscriber mark, so between company pride in operating the most popular MMO of all time, and the fact that it's raking in the cash for them, it's intensely unlikely to get dropped anytime in the next five years unless things take a sharp nose-dive.

I'm just hoping that at some point along the way, they do a major engine revamp. Considering that its basically a really advanced version of the Warcraft 3 engine at its core (some of the older graphics are just flat-out upscaled ones from Warcraft 3, like some of the simple grass doodads, and some ones that got upscaled and had added model details, like many Orc and Human buildings), it's holding up well, but it's also really beginning to show its age. Cataclysm's redoing the water effects and various graphical settings, and hopefully sweeping away all vestiges of the blatantly upscaled WC3 stuff, which is a start...

Oh, and I'm still hoping on expansions for the Emerald Dream, the Maelstrom, and a full Caverns of Time expansion where you can do something like go back and fight the War of the Ancients.

...actually, forget everything else, just go with the War of the Ancients one, I'll happily pay for that.

Original post wasn't serious in any way. And I would know since I wrote it :p
The questions were more of a spin on the whole StarCraft/WarcrCraft stories, games and comments.
To quote Artanis from StarCraft/BroodWar: "This is not Warcraft in space!" which was a joke regarding the StarCraft Alpha-test version, which actually DID look like Warcraft, only in space.
And thus, we get the joke about expansions in WoW and Warcraft in Space ;)

I highly doubt that they will shut down WoW.
They lose user-base, yes. But with every single content addition, they get even more to fill the slots they lost. So there is no shortage of income for Blizzard in regards to World of Warcraft.
They have a LOT of areas to cover before they run out of lore to use for expansions*giggles*

Considering how the story is looking right now, we might either get Maelstorm or Emerald Dream, tbh. The chance of Caverns of Time being a separate expansion COULD be possible if BLizz pulls another rabbit out of the hat. Presto-change-o style as they have done before :p
Then again. They could also further implrement Caverns of Time into existing expansions via patches as they have done thus far :)
