Not a chance mate - you're either in the guild or out of the guild. I'm not going the route of giving everyone a unique rank - its far too much hassle and sets a precedent that would take a lot of effort to maintain (effort that I would rather spend elsewhere i.e. organising events or just playing).
I'm not talking about setting precedents, just a favor for your good pal, good buddy, good friend.

But I thought seeing as how I was a guild charter type person this was reasonable enough, and I do recall ronin saying it was easy to insert ranks at the bottom.
The trouble is that new recruits are automatically given the lowest rank, so you wouldn't remain the only user with that rank for long.
Well then, make it one rank above?
That would be correct. And it would mean that all current Initiates would either need to be promoted or demoted, which is pretty tedious, because you can't insert ranks in the middle of the heirarchy, only at the bottom...
