[Request] Quoted?

An interesting idea of mine,

I now use the quote block more and more for quoting things not said on the forum, Would it be simple to do some clever scripting so if quote=<username> on the forums you get the normal "originally posted by" or if not then it gives something else like "Quoted from "

Hmm, could you elucidate that a little?

Currently, quote blocks do the following:

This is a straight quote block with nothing added.

This quote block both credits me and links to my post.

That last version is tougher to implement but variants of the first would be fairly straight forward.

I think what he means is that on your example of Wikipedia it would say "Quoted from Wikipedia" instead of "Originally posted by Wikipedia".

I think he wants to be able to differentiate between a post from a THN user on these boards and a exerpt from an external source (like Wikipedia).

As wikipedia isn't a registered username on thn (i dont think) then it should say something like
"Quoted From Wikipedia" as wraith suggests

The detection of usernames is too high a load for a simple function so, instead, I'd add a new bbCode to allow a similar format but with different wording.

To be honest, the more I look at the quote block the more it becomes apparent there's a lot of wasted space. Where it says "Quote:" in small letters at the top it could easily be extended to include username and link if needed, or just some arbitrary reference.
