Basically, Nanor doesn't mind a human finding his email address
But he is worried about "Computer controlled scripts" (Bots) trawlling the internet and adding his email to a list for "Free win win viagra super cheap"
So he wants a way of making his email recognisable to a human, but confusing the hell out of a computer

As KillCrazy says, that field's output is totally under your control. There no system-based reason why the address you put in that field is type-accurate so feel free to obfuscate as you see fit.
An aside to this, however: this board's current configuration denies access to profile pages for Guest users. That's clearly not always the case on all boards and mistakes on permissions can unfortunately easily occur... the only email address that must be type-accurate is your registration address.
