It could perhaps be something to do with the update of VBulletin, who knows.

Why would you want to edit dead threads anyway?

Something you want to hide ?

I beleive it's to stop people "Changing history" so to speak.

This is a standard feature of vBulletin. Only Mods can edit posts after 7 days have passed. If you need a hand editing a post after that time limit has expired just give a forum Mod or Super Mod a shout.
