Review Section?

Remember this bad boy? Oh what plans we had!

I can't find an example on the net for what I'm talking about but I'm sure most of you got the gist. After seeing bob's reviews and remembering the amount of reviews there used to be it really got popular but doing reviews in posts just seemed a tad archaic.

I for one would certainly contribute more reviews if there was something like this in place.

Are people still in favour for this or has the support died down over the years?

i had quite alot of talks with ronin, about how to do this. Once i get back after christmas i'll try and look into the server side stuff again. I've just been crazy busy recently!!!!

Ronin, when you happen to read this, feel like sending me the user name and details we set up, i seem to have lost the paper!!!

What features would you be looking for that just posting a thread wouldn't allow, exactly?

I remember seeing an example somewhere. I tried to find it but I've no idea what to type in google. Review mods for VB doesn't go down well...

As I recall it had a good rating system with ratings for individual things like graphics, gameplay etc. and then calculated a final score. It gave you different boxes for different things and allowed you to put in images. It structured the final thing very well to boot.

PM sent.

As to the general topic, we were having a look at a way of doing this but it got a bit sidetracked. Vibs may well be back to looking at this.

There is a mod for vBulletin that does reviews and articles and such but it is both paid for and seems overblown for what we'd want.

It's a generally interesting area but I think the big reason why it's not had more work is because making a thread "works", even if it lacks the structure one might desire.

My original reasoning behind the reviews/articles subsite was that a large number of us seemed to be enjoying writing longer articles, but I felt we needed a way to categorize these articles. Additionally I have found the vBulletin posting interface to be lacking in layout functionality, photo positioning and such like. My hope for the articles subset is for it to not just be a place of reviews, but pasionate articles as well (Within the standard framework)
