When I wrote my review for HL2 Episode 1, I wrote it on Microsoft Word and coppied and pasted it in. When I did this all the apostrephes that were in it changed to question marks, I didn't really think to much about it but It did take quite a bit of time to change them all back to apostrephes.

However I also noticed that it had happened in MadGinga's reply to the Great Balls Of Fire thread

Word replaces single quotes with some sort of bastard "smart quotes." ick.

When I wrote my review I just Copied it from Word into the Quick Reply box. I don't know about MadGinga's though.

Ah, then as Big D says, it's smart quotes that's messing you up there. They're a unicode character, but the database is not in unicode. It's just the same as the stupid euro and pound sign issues.
