I thought this was very interesting. I'm finding it really hard to explain my views on the subject, though, given that you've only been treated to the 'under fire reporter's' view on the proceedings. Undoubtedly there must have been some amount of editing going on to discredit the Scientological Church as far as possible, but it's eye-opening nonetheless. Although it seems ridiculous, I find it hard to criticise the Scientological faith when I was brought up in a religion where you are taught that a big (in the figurative sense) man made everything out of nowhere, and people can do miracles. I'd just leave them to their own business instead of poking around, trying to ridicule them.

By the way, I'm not completely sure of the legality of these clips so they might be taken down in the near future.

I just watched it, and it's very interesting. I didn't actually learn anything about scientology, or about it's beliefs, but they way they followed the reporter..? That was crazy.

I watched this Special on TV the other day. Fair enough everyones free to believe in whatever they want. I just found it strange how the guy kept on constantly trying to defend his religion and wouldn't let anyone talk about it at all. Everyone's got the right to an opinion at the end of the day.

Yeah, you're right there. After about the hundredth 'this isn't a cult' I just wanted to slap that little Tom-Cruise look-alike silly. It's a bit contradictory when he starts going on about 'You have no right to tell people what is or isn't a religion' when that is precisely what he's doing.

Scientology is an interesting new faith. I watched the panorama programme too, which as already been said, told very little about the religion itself. The tom cruise lookalike guy annoyed me because he would never let anyone talk, he continually spoke even when someone spoke to him, which is worce than interuppting.

Anyhow the church is obviously well financed with multimillionaire members like cruise and travolta.

Science is the nature of things, so you never know, the UK may be forced to accept this as a legitimate faith particularly if the membership grows.

The guy who founded it L Ron Hubbard L Ron, writes some interesting fiction books, although the film of it was terrible. Anyone remember Battlefield Earth?

The guy also once wrote that he never knew why someone would be paid $1000 per word for writing a book, when you could make millions starting a religion. And he also said that he went and mediated with monks in hills off in god knows where for god knows how long. And it's been proven that he did. Which confuses me as to why people still believe him...

I'll link to you them later.
