EDIT: Blank post, why you so blank?

You know what it was that swinged it. The wikipedia blackout. That was horrible!

Forgive me for perhaps sounding off with this statement, perhaps because my internet is so slow, wikipedia worked fine for me on Wednesday, after each page loaded it took 5 seconds for the blackout page to appear during which i could just press browser stop.

"...until there is wider agreement."

Exactly. It's not as if the sentiment behind the bill has gone away from those that lobbied for it.

They'll just try and creep something else through after the furore dies down.

It's also a common tactic with this kind of thing to propose something ludicrously over the top (that you never expect to pass) so that later on you can sneak something through by saying 'we've toned it down a lot'.

Protip: Most people dont know you can do that.

In the same way most people dont know about noscript or "disable javascript" plugins.
