The problem with doing this server side is that 1) for each spelling mistake you have to add on an extra web request and response to fix this, not to mention the countless database / file access to the dictionary to provide this interface over the internet, and then 2) you have the countless "You didnt spell BF:BC2 correctly and i dont understand the word". now wut.
Considering I was berated for trying to uphold correct spelling within this community, I doubt that a server side spell checker is something that's likely to appear.
If you want it for your own posts, then a client side browser plugin as spicypixel mentioned, will be faster, easier on the server, and much easier to use than any server side implementation could provide.
If youre suggesting it to enforce correct spelling in other peoples' posts, then good luck!

For Firefox, I suggest:

It does a Word-style highlight for spelling mistakes. Not quite a spell check, per se, but not bad and much better than nothing.
