Splitting threads

Helloes, :)

[...] the application [...] was posted to the wrong thread

For the record, you check off the post and choose "move post" from the moderation dropdown. That'll give you the option to merge it with another thread or have it start its own :)

I don't seem to have the "move post" on the Thread Tools dropdown or on any other dropdown, for that matter. :)

Is this a restricted functionality?

Cheers,
J.

It will be in the moderation dropdown inside the thread. Not sure if you have that permission offhand, but I think you should.

Moving posts is handled separately to the Thread Tools stuff.

First, you must be in Linear or Hybrid viewing mode. Then, if you have any Mod privileges, you can see a tick box on each post you want to move. Select the posts to move, then look at the bottom right of the list of posts to find the Moderation drop-down, where the Move Post option should reside.

Please be sure that if there are many replies directly to a particular post that you move it and all its replies otherwise you'll orphan (and thereby inadvertently hide) all those replies to user of Threaded viewing mode.

It's a little complex but you should be able to play around with that.

Maybe we should have a moderation sandpit for trying this stuff out...?
