Spore Release Date Announced

According to Eurogamer...

Spore will be released here for PC on 5th September 2008 and in the US two days later on 7th September, EA has confirmed to Eurogamer. Europe first!

... bets on further delays? I reckon that might be realistic, though.

Mr. Wright stated in a recent interview that they were in the final stage of bugtesting and polish. Sounds likely.

i remember seeing spore about 3 (or was it 4) years ago when it was originally announced, i'm now just hoping the wait was worth it.
last i saw it was looking rather nice so hopefully it live up to expectations and isn't over hyped

That's all going to be based on what you might expect. I'm finding Eurogamer's coverage to be quite accessible and lacking unnecessary sensationalism. In fact, their slightly cynical yet hopeful reporting is working for me at the moment.

I'm not expecting anything in particular. I like the sound of the concept much like I liked the sound of Portal. That's good enough for me to buy unless I get waved off by a deluge of bad THN reviews before I actually make my purchase. We'll see...
