Star Trek Online - Post Mark 2

So. Ive been playing STO for a couple of weeks now with Gombol. I have to say, in brief, that in general its pretty good.

Obviously, since its a pretty new game, theres some stuff that will need ironing out, but I get the distinct feeling it will be worth it when they do. There is ALOT of potential here.

Some stuff is a little fiddly, and a little complicated. The Skills System, for example is a bit iffy in my opinion, but as I get my head around it more it makes more and more sense.

Other than that, theres not a huge amount wrong. The UI is pretty decent and easy to use (Similar to WoW and GW in some ways). The graphics are pretty good on top setting. The music is probably one of the best things about it.

Me and Gombol are going to be looking at setting up a THN fleet. I think if its possible to do that then we may be able to get some more players over to our side. Also, there is a definite shortage of organisations like ours on STO.

So if anyone is thinking they might give it a go then please, please, please do. It isnt massively expensive and it is alot of pew pew for the money. I dont know if I can form a guild with people on demo accounts, but we will see.

If your hovering, please give it a go. If youve watched some ST and like it, then give it a go. If you have any questions, then PM Gomb or myself.

It's worth trying even if you haven't watched some Star Trek, It's just an awsome game overall, and yes, some things do need ironing out (PVP mostly. But hey. You get the same rewards weither you win or loose so no loss.).

And if you DO decide to try it out, feel free to get me or Ting to "Invite" you, as we get benifits, as do you ( http://www.startrekonline.com/referral ), sure It's mostly towards us, but I'll happily pop by to help you with a hard mission and the like. With the added "Match party leaders level" (Not sure how it works and all that but...) we can easily help you out if needed.

Currently, we are both Engineers (I'm tempted to level a Tactical officer, but as with every MMO, I don't have the will to level. :p).

But yes, feel free to PM me with any questions and I'll answer them as well as i can.

I would be playing it more if my graphics card got along better with it. It just doesn't and that makes it, sadly, a no-go for me. Well, have a blast anyway!

Right. Seeing as there doesnt seem to be alot of people interested (or, indeed, any) untill we have a fleet setup and theres a de facto THN presence, then im going to try and get a few like-minded people already playing STO to set up a THN guild there.

Hopefully then a few people will try it.

Weeeeeelll... after two days I finally got ST-O demo working. Seems you have to activiate twice, the second time only obscurely mentioned on one of the pages.

Sofar, I must say I like what I see. It certainly looks shiny, and handles pretty well despite 6 years of muscle-memory from WoW. Is it enough to fork out nearly 50 euros to get the full version plus the monthly fee to find out if I -really- like it? Not sure yet. I might be playing the demo a few times to figure that one out.

But for now the U.S.S. Milliways is making space a little safer for all of us.

As someone who recently reached RA 4 (Rear Admiral (max rank) 4 (level 4 in that rank) so 45) the "end game" is rather dull unless you enjoy 10-20 min queues for PVP and 2 dailies (one doing an explore mission (Go into a nebula and explore 3 systems.) and the other doing 5 battlegrounds of a certain type.), there -MIGHT- be more, but aparently It's all just redoing missions / fleet action / doing the missions you still have, over and over to get gear (since it all scales to your level, unless you match level to the party leader.)
