Just a question, as with the steam community, i keep getting spam through from false Válve etc is there any way of stopping outsides that are not THN admin from sending group messages through the community channel?

Hmm, I never get any such messages. Are these through creating events or news articles in the Steam group?
I've checked the announcement and event history and I don't see any evidence of stuff coming through THN's Steam group. Are you sure that's the vector?

No way to stop it without locking the group to invite/application only then right? Or use common sense and ignore them

sure i know to ignore them, but i was looking out for the people who might not be so tech savvy
I can do that. But I don't want to. I like having an open group.
If this gets worse, though, then we'll have to lock that down and just be liberal with invites. At least one TF2 server I've played on seems to automatically invite people who play on that server into the associated Steam group; not proposing we go that far, but certainly could do a smaller scale version of the same.

Yeah, I got a message too. I looked at the site and it's obviously a phishing site. Something like gosteamcommunity.com. He changed his name afterwards to Josh R (c) 2009, and he's still in the group.

I'm going to these people's profiles and reporting them for misconduct. Certainly, though, collecting their names here seems like a good plan then, if needed, I can deal with them with kicks/bans/complaints.
I had a chat request from #PoPs| Raul8711 who was called something different when he was in the group, but I can see the history of joins and leaves and the timings are correct. I've already reported him.

maybe its like another strand of those msn bots, they take your account and use it to spam, as apposed to an account thats been created for this purpose.
That seems possible but that's still report worthy.
