Just a bit of information gathering for the upcoming forum migration.

To be clear, this is supporting what we focus on but isn't the prime basis for decisions on this. Technical feasibility and available migration time will be the prime factors.

In any of our likely migrations, it should be possible to migrate both user accounts and forums/threads/posts.

Happy for questions.

I'd quite like the user accounts to be able to come over. Assuming there is some way of archiving these forums for a while so that any stickies that are still relevant can be copied over, I'm personally not too worried about keeping most of the existing posts.

Mainly that im going to be a bit fucked off if my thread with videos and stuff in suddenly disappears!

Well there's nothing stopping people individually copying over their own threads if a currently used thing, i think the idea is more mass-migration of content.

While starting afresh is nice, I really wouldn't like to see all the current content disappear. There's a lot of history there and, for me, that's what makes an online community like this.
Could it be archived somewhere for easy reference/browsing etc if it doesn't get transferred in total?

Apart from that I am very (please note very) concerned about the cookies.
Why is there no mention of cookies?!

Has anyone else noticed the trend that it's the big EVE players who've all voted "DELETE ALL THE POSTS!"?

Maybe because our game has enough walls of text in it that we dont require them out of game? Most of our communication is done through TS3 or Skype to tbe honest. But that's the point of this poll, to get a snapshot of the community's thoughts on the matter.

I think that the accounts are the most important thing to save, though I might suggest that the people who've been running the various games copy the score-boards and start new threads after the migration perhaps?

Old information, AKA WoW posts (We deleted all of our EVE posts ;)) if it's important stick it in the Wiki? That isn't going to be deleted, ever.

user names would be good to keep, along with userbars if possible :)
posts would be nice to migrate new things across and archive older ones, but generally not too fussed on that front

also for spicy

Userbars, absolutely. Though they may change format to be shorter, but bear with me on that. They'll be back, for sure, in one form or another. I'd like to make the maintenance of them a little easier, but I've an idea for that.
