STV Fishing Contest on Sunday 14th December

Since I seriously took up fishing on Umbrator over two years ago, it's been my aim to win the STV fishing contest. As soon as my combined skill, rod and lure were enough to let me participate, I started trying when I could, and have been doing so on-and-off for around twenty-three months (sometimes doing it every week, sometimes one in three). I paused for a while and then began again on Arithidrimme (with it for a long while being my only fishing activity). I have yet to win.

Every time I participate, it's the usual fair; Alliance fishers calling in gank-squads to help them and Horde fishers having their friends dance around me or on my buoy to slow me down. People who lost once or twice and decided to stop trying to participate on a fair level and essentially cheat.

I have never once asked for help in these two years, but I'm fed up to the back teeth after being griefed by the House of Sylvanas one week, and Unfinished Sympathy the next. I'm the guild master of a sizable guild, and I feel that for once it's time that I perhaps took some advantage of that.

So, I've put an event up for Sunday the 14th in the forum calendar. I will be doing the fishing contest then. I hope to have a notable contingent of people with <The Haven> tags above their heads near me and around the zone. Suffice to say I shall be extremely disappointed if this is not the case. Two years is BEYOND a joke.

The idea would be that any and all Alliance fishermen would be ganked on sight, whilst allowing Alliance gankers to attack any Horde fisherman except myself.

TL;DR: Mass STV ganking and guild-master-protection event on Sunday next week. Be there or be made of fail.

Oh yes! Sounds fun. Maybe we can make it a regular thing? I wouldn't mind blagging a fishin' hat.. finally something useful from all that fishing grind ;)

What time we meeting up? Can we have mass buffage and heals and grouping or is it gonna be a case of all splitting up and dying?

p.s. Might be an idea to put up a map of the special fishing nodes so we know where to hunt.. have one group guard you, one group hunt (I'll do the latter!)

Sounds cool, should be able to locate the schools needed for the comp if they appear on "Find Fish" for those that have it. Del being resto will probably follow ppl around and make sure they stay alive

Got over 400 fishing, the Kalu'ak Exalted Rod with a +3 line and a +2 enchant on a spare pair of gloves, and I have Find Fish; finding and catching them isn't really a problem

Ok, let me see if I get this straight: you want us to get there and kill everything on sight, including, but not limited to, fishermen, any living bait they might have, small furry animals, Alliance bystanders, Horde bystanders, any bystander with no faction affiliation whatsoever, fish, seals, whales, crocolisks, and be extremely vicious towards female trolls.

Is this it?

I get wanting protection to avoid the twats who are there to stop you being able to compete and I also understand wanting to kill any of these ppl. But surely by killing all other fishermen is making you as twatish as them. I have nothing against you wanting protection but to then go out of your way to essentially cheat and be as bad as the guys who have done this to you in the past. What does that achieve except to only exasperate the situation. I appreciate your frustration but why inflict that on others? Surely you being a twat to them just makes you all arseholes and takes away from actually winning the thing anyway.

I appreciate I don't know anything about WoW and may have misunderstood what you are getting at in which case ignore me.

We can't attack people of the same faction (which is unfortunate in some cases) but our server has a much higher population of Alliance players than Horde, this means that the there are more Dicks on the Alliance side due to volume of numbers.

Regarding this particular event, it's a contest that has happened every sunday for a year and a half, the problem is that the only way to get it is with protection. You have to get a particular number of a certain type of fish using your fishing skill within about 2 hours. This poses a problem because if someone of the opposing faction also wants the prize... there's gonna be a fight. That's the long and the short of it.

So this is to go and make a name for ourselves and to show that these people need to stop being suck dicks themselves and to also make a name for ourselves :D

Regarding this particular event, it's a contest that has happened every sunday for a year and a half,

Actually it was patched in with 1.7, over three years ago now; it's been in the game since before I was :P

And for anyone who's wondering about a time-frame for this event; it'd be a case of meeting up in STV before the event (say, have everyone there 10 minutes before), then hanging around till a winner is declared (usually twenty or so minutes after the contest starts). Hanging around after that is up to individuals; you may see a particularly hated Alliance player and want to hang around to have words with them.

Also, if the Unfinished Sympathy player "Delicious" turns up to the contest, they need to die more than anyone else :P

Finally, in response to Bob's comments; I'd entirely agree with the fact that my behaviour here is, under normal circumstances, poor at best. But I've become a tad... "irate" with the situation after two years, so I'm going to try and ensure my (in my opinion) much deserved victory; that way I won't have to compete again later, and won't end up being embroiled in a spreading gank war that disrupts other people's fishing.
