Super Robot Wars J (emulated)

As some WoW players might have noticed, I'm kinda busy lately. Part of that is caused by my courses at the university, and part by this game. It's a turn-based strategy game for the GBA which I play emulated. You guys might like it as well.

Super Robot Wars (or super robot taisen) is a Japanese series of turn-based strategy games with RPG elements whose basic premise is something like this:

Take about a dozen mecha anime series, add a few original characters and mecha, mix it all together and make it into a game very much like Advance Wars and Fire Emblem (but without permadeath).

While the games are quite popular in Japan, licencing issues generally keep the games from being released over here as rights for those anime series belong to various companies. However, a group of fans recently completed a full translation of SRW J for the GBA into English. The patch, the game and an emulator are all quite easily available on the net (or you can PM me) if you'd like to try the game.

This is a game I'd suggest you try, as it's quite fun but not ridiculously difficult (at least as far as i'm into the game). It looks to be reasonably long as well; I've started playing yesterday afternoon, and have just completed level 9 out of 51, plus several path splits. There's no official manual (as it's a fan translation), but I'll try to answer questions in this thread. If people wanna try playing this game but would like a quick tutorial first, I wouldn't mind providing one.

SRW J also has quite a nice lineup for series to use, including the following:
-Martian Sucessor Nadesico
-G Gundam
-Gundam SEED
-Mazinkaiser
-Full Metal Panic!

You also get some choices before you start playing:
-Your main character; the choice is between an ordinary hight school student (a mecha anime staple) and a somewhat traumatized female veteran pilot. I went with the female, as Gundam SEED provides plenty of kids already.
-Your main character's mecha; the choices are a real robot focused on ranged combat, a real robot focusing on melee combat and a super robot. I went with the Super (Granteed) because I wanted my main character to just wreck stuff up close and I liked the Granteed's looks better than the melle Real's.
-You 3 favorite available mecha series; pilots from these series will gain more monay (spent on upgrades) and experience, and mechs from them can be upgraded further. The 3 I chose were original characters (not from any series, which includes the main character and his/her mech) Nadesico and Gundam SEED.
