Supreme Commander Closed Beta (Fileplanet)

Fileplanet have a closed beta for Supreme Commander running now. While they were out of places when I registered, the sign-up indicates that they'll be adding more people in waves to the beta and it's a first-come-first-served basis.

I would strongly urge everyone to seriously consider before signing up for beta testing any game. There is already firm evidence from our experience that it can quickly put you off a game that you would have otherwise liked if you had waited for the official release.

You are likely to experience a game with sub standard performance and many bugs - not to mention the same map ALL the time.

My advice is only sign up if you are genuinely interested in testing and enjoy finding bugs and reporting them on the developers forum.

A beta version should not be percieved as a sneek preview or demo to play for relaxation.

I have a very specific purpose in signing up for the beta, in this case.

I figure that by beta I should at least be able to see the shape of this game and its ups and downs will probably help fuel a development project I have underway at the moment.

As you say, though, beta is such because it is buggy and incomplete... otherwise it'd be released!
