[TECH] God Damn BSODs!

So I've been getting into EVE and occasionally I'll get a BSOD, like once a day. Now, I'm at a point in a mission that triggers a BSOD and when I login I BSOD. Great.

Here's what I've done:
  1. Updated my drivers.
  2. Turned the fan on my GPU up to max, so it's definitely not an overheating issue.
  3. Reinstalled EVE twice. Once from Steam and once from the EVE website.
  4. Turned down all the graphics in EVE.
I'm pretty certain it's related to EVE but no idea what it is. I've searched their forums and can't find anything. I'd post myself but I can't find the fucking new post button on their forums!

HELP!

I've had one hard crash on my machine playing EVE on an otherwise absolutely stable system. I find that trying to watch videos or stuff while playing really screws up the EVE client. In-browser-based stuff seems to be fine (e.g. BBC iPlayer), but stuff using zPlayer causes EVE to go mental, freeze for a bit or lock up completely and I need to reboot to fix the problems.

Are you playing full screen or windowed? Are you doing anything else on your machine while playing?

As a by the by, one can play EVE from Linux (I believe). I wonder if that client would prove more resilient...?

I'm playing it full screen and doing absolutely nothing in the background.

You think I should install Linux?

No, not really. Not unless you were already interested in trying out Linux for its own sake. Then it'd be interesting to see EVE under Linux.

I've been finding my machine has been running quite hot with EVE. Convinced its not overheating?

I love you Ronin! I'll give you ISK when I can spare it. For now, have some rep! :p

I've been using the Mac version, which seems to work pretty well. From what I've heard it's based on Transgaming's Cider, same as the Linux version.

Interesting...it's not the first time I have heard sound acceleration being blamed for BSOD's.

Seems to be another thing that can be done to reduce instability of games.

What type of soundcard do you have Nanor?

It's one built into the motherboard. Not sure what motherboard I have either.

Conversely, I have a Creative Soundblaster X-Fi as its own card and I've had no issues of the kind.
