Hi, do you suffer from "so called" cold callers who call(phone) all the time to try and sell you stuff, during meal times for example. Well this could be for you, Telephone Preferences Service I know for a fact that this works in england as i have refered 3 ppl to it and it has fixed all their cold caller problems, I can take up to 6 weeks to work, but it does, one of my mates families was getting calls every half hour, and was unplugging the phone at meal times, another friend who i have yet to confirm this working with, had to go off TS for a cold caller; hopefully(scot-lander) this will work for him too. Theres lots of info on the site, plain simple and quick.

nah i tell them my Dad is dead and they dont ring back (he isnt btw)
but if they ring at a realy bad time i speak the words F*** OFF and hang up
My sister speaks french to them which makes them hang up, they are realy annoying especialy the ones that ring from obviously another country as there is a long pause after you say "hello" and they start talking.
somebody tried to sell my dad a morgage on a world cup England game, i kinda feel sorry for them lol

There's also a fax preference service kicking around... it's funny that I missed this thread first time around because on a regular basis I now advise people of the TPS (even have the number memorised: 0845 070 0707 )

Yeah, I think we're actually on that here, but they still call.

Also, the "my dad's dead" line does certainly work, but is more poignant for me where that is actually true.

The best thing to do is re-register once a year to keep your details current - a lot of people forget to do this and so the calls start back again.

Also if you do still get calls after re-registering, find out the name of the company and you can lodge a complaint against them, they can get fined up to something like £5000 for cold calling you when you're on the register.
