TF2 Timetable

Just speculating, lemme know what you think.

On Wednesdays we will be having a clan practice on the THN server from 8PM onwards. I'm thinking it should just be THN against THN for the first hour and then after that we can open the flood gates and let the randomers in.

On Thursday I plan to schedule ED matches from 8PM onwards. These will be on the ladder and if we win, we get points! Woo!

NOTE: On Wednesday 21st and Thursday 22nd we will be having two practices from 8PM onwards, just like is described on Wednesdays above.

On Wednesday 30th we will have clan practices as usual but on Thursday 1st I'm thinking of having a friendly against xcite clan (They're pretty good) to see how good we are. I think we should beat them if we wish really really hard!

I'd propose configuring a second TF2 server for clan matches and practices so we don't need to close off the main one. That one could, theoretically, stay up all the time but passworded (maybe even with a public password on the boards) so practice can happen at any time.

Easy enough to do. Thoughts?

There was also mention of sending a couple of mails over to marketing @ intel for some sponsoring ... ( this was suggested at i32, where how why who and when can't be named ) But the general gist was, theres a 50/50 chance that intel will turn around and go 'here have some money' which will go into the nice fund fury's setting up

In the way of Intel's Dignitas sponsering they get intel gear for victories ( vibs or bob can clarify if I heard that wrong ) but basically ..... we just say, can we stick the intel logo around ( Vibs should be able to remember more, personally i wasn't paying much attention as there were 3 conversations going on at once )

But the point in session was don't do anything till we have a functioning A squad... basically

basically not worth doing until we are properly set up and running with a load of wins under the belt was the point i believe fish was making but hey worth remembering for the future.

I've been thinking about what someone (HotStuff?) said about always wanting to join server #1 cause obviously that's where all the cool cats hang out.

I wondered whether a cunning dodge could be used for two server's naming. How about giving them colours?

e.g.

• [THN] TheHavenNet UK - TF2 - Green Server
• [THN] TheHavenNet UK - TF2 - Purple Server

Then we can pseudo-randomly pick a server for clan matches or just agree we always take the green server for clan matches or something...

Either way, setting up a second server is easy. Maintaining it is the hard bit.

The colour system certainly sounds better and less elite than a number 1 and 2. Just as long as the colours aren't Gold and Silver

Yeah, colours with no inherent ranking. Easily identifiable. Also avoided red and blue, initially, so there's no confusion for newbies about joining the blue server but being on the red team or some such...

Another consideration is that when a server is not being used for practice, it might be an idea to keep it in a different configuration from the other server. Eg, one server could be running a standard map rotation while another could run only custom maps. This way it appeals to two different "markets" of players. Of course, last night's event highlighted some of the custom maps which are more popular than others.

A seeded TF2 server fills in minutes at practically any reasonable hour.

However, all such suggestions welcome. If we could discover a good set of custom maps then a custom rotation would be reasonable. If not, I think we might succeed at running two parallel standard rotation servers, if they're seeded.
