Not sure I've ever remember it being -33 out. If you include windchill, it drops below -40 a couple of times every year, though. Those are the days when you can drive for half an hour before your car's heater actually warms up

Damn, why do we never get a proper winter. I would hope greenland melts and blocks the gulf stream once and for all.

bah, it was -40.6°C in lapland a couple of nights ago

coldest ever (lapland as well) in sweden was in '66, -52.6°C

sweden is a long country though, here in gothenburg I think the record is like -10°C or something...

That's quite warm, we saw -18 one night in february 2005, but that's extreme, and it didnt last.
